Established in 2021 by designer and maker Derek Davidson, Surface Vessel embodies the creation of luxurious, sizable, and resilient pieces meticulously hand-carved, shaped and finished from naturally felled and locally sourced timbers. With strong ties to arborists and sawmills, he gains access to only the best-suited materials at the raw stage which allows him to personally tailor the shaping process.

Originally trained as an industrial designer, 'D' now collaborates with select gallery, commercial & residential curators - and aims to fabricate pieces that transcend functionality and elevate both the space they inhabit and the senses of those who experience them.

Operating out of Hudson, QC - Surface Vessel is a symbolically named design studio specializing in the creation of distinctive and individual sculptural installations.
